ABOUT GREGG
GREGG BROWN has been hailed by Variety for having "the ability to get people to open up emotionally" with his "rye yet earnest presence." He hosted and directed a documentary, Words (winner San Francisco Documentary Film Festival), based on the idea that people, places, and experiences can be connected the same way words are connected in a word association. He played the lead role and co-wrote The Method (Audience Award winner at the Avignon/New York Film Festival and runner up at the Harvardwood Mini Film Festival) about an actor who robs a diner in order to prepare for the part of a lifetime. He wrote, directed, and played the lead role in Shrinks (first place Comedy Short Film winner at the Academy Award qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival) about a depressed and lonely everyman who goes shopping for therapists. He created a cable television show in Manhattan, Face TV with Gregg Brown, that focused on his hosting ability to get people to say and do just about anything on the streets: He got pedestrians to spontaneously stop traffic and dance with him; he even got a woman to tattoo his name on her ankle. Recently, he hosted a promotional campaign for the 2008 US Open Tennis Tournament for the USA Network where he engaged New York pedestrians in all manner of tennis antics: throwing down their rackets, mock victory celebrations, even attempting to break Andy Roddick’s 155 MPH serve with the aid of a radar gun. As creator, lead actor, director, and writer, Shrinks is now a web series on strike.tv, the first ever online network created by professional Hollywood storytellers. Brown currently resides in Los Angeles. |
